The Long:

In 2010, I interned in the Education and Development department in Children in Crossfire when I studied abroad to Northern Ireland.  Among helping kids to think more internationally, CiC worked locally as a harmonizer for Derry/Londonderry.  Whether the people involved were Catholic and Protestant, young or old, girl or boy, Children in Crossfire helped bring everyone together.  The lingering resentments makes me so sad in Northern Ireland; working with children gives hope that the future of these prejudices can be eliminated with time.

Richard Moore, the creator of this organization, was blinded during Bloody Sunday as a child by an English soldier.  He has had an amazing story of forgiveness, and has become good friends with the Dalai Lama for his profound compassion.

The Trek to Peru is not just about achieving personal challenges, but about being a part of something much bigger than ourselves: about building bridges across the global.

The proceeds raised will go to projects Children in Crossfire have implemented in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Gambia and travel costs.  Through improved healthcare and education, children can provide a better future for the next generations, just as Richard Moore did.

My heart and soul is in this journey, and I can't do it without your help.  Please consider going to www.justgiving.com/emilyoutcalt and join me in making the world that much better....that much closer.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
